During this holiday season, Biocontrol Technologies has received an extension of use in Canada for Asperello® T34 Biocontrolformulated with Trichoderma asperellum strain T34, incorporating new crops and pathogens both in the greenhouse and in the field. The extension, granted in December 2025, has been authorized by Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) under registration number 30229, and represents a significant milestone for the company in the Canadian market.
From a regulatory point of view, an extension of use implies official validation of the efficacy and safety of the product on new crops and diseases, in accordance with the requirements of the Canadian authorities. In this regard, approval by Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) reinforces the technical soundness and scientific rigor of a solution based on Trichoderma asperellum strain T34.
Among the main novelties is the incorporation of foliar applications in greenhouses. Specifically, the use of Asperello® T34 Biocontrol in greenhouse tomato against Botrytis cinerea and in greenhouse cucurbits (crop group 9) for the control of Didymella bryoniae, with adjustment to a lower dose, expanding the management options in protected systems.
The expansion also includes new field uses, covering potato against Rhizoctonia solani, strawberry against Phytophthora cactorum, raspberry against Phytophthora cinnamomi and lettuce for the control of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum and Sclerotinia minor. This expansion provides growers and technical advisors with greater flexibility to integrate biocontrol solutions based on Trichoderma asperellum strain T34 into integrated management programs, both in protected and outdoor systems.
This expansion responds to the growing demand for sustainable alternatives in a context of increased regulatory requirements and is part of Biocontrol Technologies‘ international growth strategy. With this new step in Canada, the company reaffirms its commitment to innovation, biocontrol as a sustainable alternative and the global expansion of effective, science-based solutions adapted to the real needs of modern agriculture.
