Biocontrol Technologies completes its CDTI-funded R&D project
In 2023, the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) approved funding for the company’s project entitled “New developments and applications of the active substance Trichoderma asperellum, strain T34.”
The project had a total budget of €369,310.00 and received partially repayable funding with interest from the CDTI amounting to €313,913.50. The project was carried out between 2023 and 2025 and was completed on 31 December 2025.
The project focused on exploring new applications and developments of the active substance Trichoderma asperellum, strain T34, known for its beneficial properties across various fields. The substance is also expected to have its approval renewed in 2026 as a low-risk active substance for plant protection use in the European Union.
The successful execution of this project represents a further step forward for the company, placing its innovative capacity at the service of sustainable agriculture that contributes to human well-being and environmental protection.
With the technical phase of the project now completed, the next challenge is to prepare the regulatory stage so that the new developments can reach the market as quickly as possible. Commercialization of these new developments is expected to begin between 2027 and 2028.
Biocontrol Technologies has a solid track record of more than 20 years in the research and development of biological solutions for agriculture. With the completion of this project, the company once again demonstrates its ability to advance its mission: putting biotechnology at the service of agriculture and farmers.
