The UB–Biocontrol Technologies Chair advances knowledge transfer through two training sessions held in Lleida
The facilities of Central Agrícola BOVI hosted sessions aimed at technical advisors and farmers, with the participation of researchers from the University of Barcelona–Biocontrol Technologies Chair in Microorganisms for Agriculture.
The facilities of Central Agrícola BOVI, in the province of Lleida, hosted two training sessions for agricultural professionals, aimed at bringing advances in biological control and the use of beneficial microorganisms closer to practical farming applications.
The first session, held yesterday, was aimed at technical advisors who work directly with farmers in the area. The meeting brought together a group of professionals specialized in agronomic advisory services, a key group for the proper implementation of plant health strategies based on effectiveness and sustainability criteria.
Within the framework of this session, the UB–Biocontrol Technologies Chair in Microorganisms for Agriculture participated through a presentation delivered by Dr. Guillem Segarra, Serra Húnter Programme Lecturer at the University of Barcelona and Associate Director of the Chair. His talk addressed the role of biological control within integrated disease management.
The technical and commercial team of Biocontrol Technologies also presented the results of trials conducted in collaboration with the ADV Ecológica de Ponent, carried out with the product T34 Biocontrol®.
The activity continues today with a second session aimed at farmers, which will bring together nearly fifty growers.
This session will feature Dr. Mª Isabel Trillas, Emeritus Professor at the University of Barcelona and Emeritus Director of the UB–Biocontrol Technologies Chair in Microorganisms for Agriculture, who will share her experience and expertise on the use of beneficial microorganisms as a tool for disease control in crops.
Central Agrícola BOVI is a company specialized in the supply of agricultural inputs and technical advisory services for farming operations, with a strong presence in the region and a clear commitment to innovation and improving the sustainability of the sector.
These initiatives reflect one of the Chair’s core objectives: to facilitate knowledge transfer between the university and the agricultural sector, promoting the practical application of scientific advances and contributing to the development of a more efficient, sustainable, and evidence-based agriculture.
This event is not an isolated initiative, but part of an ongoing line of work that the Chair will continue to promote through training and outreach activities aimed at technical advisors and farmers in Catalonia and across the country, consolidating education and knowledge transfer as one of its main strategic pillars.
