Other Application Methods can be used?

RootDei Biocontrol®  has shown excellent results in various alternative application methods, such as roller table, tuber treatment or application with irrigation-based systems, especially in specific cases or where certain challenges arise.

These alternative applications go beyond the official label but have proven to be effective and practical in real-world scenarios. Alternative application methods have been tested and are currently in the process of being registered. Among these, irrigation treatment stands out as a proven and highly effective approach, successfully used for years in multiple countries.

Roller Table

Roller table method ensures uniform application, optimizing protection before planting.

Irrigation Systems

Its ability to pass filtration systems ensures safe and efficient application, making it a usefull method.

TUBER TREATMENT

Spraying treatment designed to protect tubers before planting by ensuring a uniform and effective coating

These methods have shown excellent results, but their implementation requires fine-tuning in collaboration with growers and their technical advisors. The right dosage, timing, and application method must be carefully adapted to each specific situation to ensure maximum efficacy and cost-effectiveness.

RootDei Biocontrol® Target Disease:

Control OF Rhizoctonia solani

Rhizoctonia solani is a genus of phytopathogenic fungi that affects plants, including potatoes. It induces diseases such as root rot and blight, damaging the roots and foliage of potato plants, thereby diminishing tuber yield and quality.

University studies have explored the use of RootDei Biocontrol® to control diseases including Dikeya solani and Athelia rolfsii, revealing valuable results in the control of these diseases. These findings contribute to a broader understanding of fungal diseases affecting crops, offering hope for more effective and comprehensive approaches to safeguarding agricultural yields.

Bonus Effect:

Complementary Action on Diseases’ Control

Extensive research and field trials have also demonstrated its excellent efficacy against additional pathogens, including Helintosporium solani, Streptomycetes scabies, Agroathelia/Sclerotium rolfsii, Dickeya solani, and Pectobacterium carotovorum

While the official authorization covers only Rhizoctonia solani, these complementary benefits highlight the broader spectrum of protection offered by the product, enhancing overall plant health management for potato crops:

Active substance.

European Authoritzations.

RootDei Biocontrol® is based on the active substance T. asperellum strain T34, which is authorized as a Plant Protection Product by the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU)
No 1238/2012.

In addition, it is considered as a Biofungicide with no MLR (Maximum Limit of Residues) as the Commission concluded that this substance is not pathogenic to humans and it is not expected to produce toxins that are relevant for human health concern.

Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 1238/2012

Approving the active substance Trichoderma asperellum (strain T34), in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning the placing of plant protection products on the market.

Commission Regulation (EU)  No 2015/896

Amending Annex IV to Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 of the European Parliament and of theCouncil as regards maximum residue levels for Trichoderma asperellum(strain T34) in or on certain products.

Storage Conditions

Proper storage ensures the quality and longevity of products by protecting them from harmful environmental factors. Especially microorganisms used as plant protection products require optimal storage conditions to maintain their effectiveness.

These conditions include the right temperature, humidity, and ventilation to ensure that the microorganisms remain active and effective. Therefore, good storage is essential to ensure the integrity and benefit of the products.

Real Impact on Potato Crops

RootDei Biocontrol® Efficacy:

RootDei Biocontrol® has been extensively tested in real agricultural conditions, ensuring reliable performance in disease management and yield improvement.

This case study highlights key results from official GEP trials, demonstrating how RootDei Biocontrol® can enhance productivity while maintaining sustainable farming practices. Ultimately, the goal of potato producers is to maximize the yield of marketable tubers, and this case study will demonstrate how RootDei Biocontrol® helps achieve that objective.

Control of Rhizoctonia solani on potato crops

One of the most destructive diseases affecting potato crops is black scurf and stem canker, caused by the soil-borne pathogen Rhizoctonia solani

This disease is well-known in potato-growing regions, but its incidence is higher in temperate climates compared to tropical areas. The economic impact of the disease is both quantitative and qualitative.

Quantitatively, losses result from infections in the stem, stolon, and root, leading to a decrease in both tuber size and quantity. Qualitatively, the disease is often associated with malformed tubers and the characteristic black scurf discoloration.

RootDei Biocontrol®'s Marketable Tuber Yield Enhancement

RootDei Biocontrol® operates through a network of mechanisms that not only help control diseases like Rhizoctonia Solani, but also contribute to overall plant health, promoting stronger root systems and enhanced nutrient uptake. In this section, we will share results from various trials demonstrating how RootDei Biocontrol® has positively impacted crop yield and productivity.

While all 14 trials provided valuable data, only 8 were selected for this specific analysis because they used consistent parameters to assess three key yield components: Total Tuber Yield, Marketable Yield, and Unmarketable Yield.

This ensures that the comparison remains scientifically robust and directly relevant to growers evaluating the performance of RootDei Biocontrol® and the chemical treatment under the same conditions. The total tuber yield results show that the chemical treatment achieved a slightly higher overall weight increase compared to RootDei Biocontrol®.

However, when the yield is broken down into marketable and unmarketable tubers, a clear pattern emerges.
