The UB–Biocontrol Technologies Chair promotes knowledge transfer at a technical conference on microorganisms and plant health
In the context of the 153rd Sant Josep Fair, the Casa Canal in Mollerussa was the setting for the technical conference “Microorganisms, an essential tool in Plant Health”, a training activity organized within the framework of the Annual Technology Transfer Plan (PATT) and aimed at technicians and professionals in the agricultural sector of the province of Lleida.
The UB – Biocontrol Technologies Chair of Microorganisms for Agriculture participated with a presentation given by Dr. Mª Isabel Trillas , professor emerita at the University of Barcelona and scientific director of the Chair. Entitled “Microorganisms vs. Chemicals in 21st Century Plant Health,” Dr. Trillas addressed the potential of soil microorganisms as an alternative to conventional chemical treatments, highlighting their fundamental role in the sustainability of agricultural systems.
The day also included a presentation by Dr. Guillem Segarra Braunstein , lecturer at the University of Barcelona (Serra Húnter Program) and deputy director of the Chair, who delved into the role of microorganisms in plant health.
The event was presented by Anna Luelmo Morell , head of Plant Defense Groups of the Plant Health Service of the General Directorate of Agriculture and Livestock, and organized by the Group of ADV Technicians and Advisors of Lleida, with the support of the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food of the Generalitat of Catalonia.
This participation is part of the ongoing work that the Chair promotes through training and outreach activities aimed at technicians and farmers in Catalonia, consolidating training and knowledge transfer as one of its main strategic pillars.
