RootDei Biocontrol® receives its first approval in the Netherlands, opening new opportunities for potato cultivation
The biological fungicide RootDei Biocontrol®.
(https://biocontroltechnologies.com/en/rootdei-biocontrol/), based on Trichoderma asperellum strain T34, has obtained its first authorization in the Netherlands, consolidating its position as an innovative and sustainable solution for the control of fungal diseases in various crops.
With the official approval (No. 16825 N (https://pesticidesdatabase.ctgb.nl/en/authorisations/30607)), RootDei is positioned as an effective solution for the preventive treatment of Rhizoctonia solani, especially in the potato crop, where its efficacy has been proven in potato, one of the key sectors of Dutch agriculture.
New crops authorized in the Netherlands
In addition to potato, RootDei Biocontrol® has also been approved for the following crops:
Beta vulgaris subsp. vulgaris
Raphanus sativus
Raphanus sativus subsp. niger var. niger
Petroselinum crispum subsp. tuberosum
Pastinaca sativa
Brassica rapa subsp. rapa
Brassica napobrassica
Tragopogon porrifolius
All of them can benefit from pre-treatment against Rhizoctonia solani, one of the most problematic diseases in the early stages of the crop.
RootDei Biocontrol®: a differentiated solution in the potato segment
Biocontrol Technologies(https://biocontroltechnologies.com/) already has in the Netherlands Asperello®Biocontrol (https://biocontroltechnologies.com/asperello-biocontrol/), another product also based on Trichoderma asperellum strain T34, but focused on protected horticultural and ornamental crops.
RootDei Biocontrol® is positioned as a unique and specialized solution in an agricultural segment where there are few biological products available for fungal disease control in potato crops. This specialized approach highlights the relevance of the product in an agricultural market where the demand for effective biological solutions is increasing.
Recommended application
RootDei Biocontrol® is recommended for in-furrow application at a rate of 250 g/ha to ensure its effectiveness in the preventive control of fungal diseases, such as Rhizoctonia solani. This application facilitates its uniform distribution in the soil, optimizing yields from the beginning of the crop.
Research and scientific validation
RootDei Biocontrol® has obtained its second authorization in Europe, after the one obtained in Germany. To obtain the authorization in the Netherlands, 15 trials were conducted in different countries, 4 of which were carried out in the Netherlands, with highly positive results that have validated the efficacy of the product under local conditions.
Aware of the importance of adapting biological solutions to the specific conditions of each region, Biocontrol Technologies continues to work closely with universities and agricultural institutions in the Netherlands. The objective of these studies is to generate solid technical data and field trials that support the use of RootDei Biocontrol® in the Dutch agronomic context, strengthening farmers’ confidence and market adoption of the product.
