Biocontrol Technologies launches the First Contest for the Best TFG:
Fostering Young Talent for Sustainable Agriculture
Biocontrol Technologies, in collaboration with the University of Barcelona and its UB Biocontrol Technologies Chair of Microorganisms for Agriculture, presents the First Best TFG Competition: Promoting Young Talent for Sustainable Agriculture. This pioneering initiative seeks to recognize and reward the best Final Degree Projects (TFG) that address the key challenges of sustainable agriculture, with the aim of encouraging research, promoting young talent and highlighting the importance of ecological practices in the agricultural sector.

This contest focuses on encouraging innovative solutions in areas such as organic farming, sustainable crop protection and advanced technologies applied to the sector.
With this contest, Biocontrol Technologies not only seeks to highlight academic excellence, but also to provide a platform for the most innovative ideas to generate a tangible impact on the agriculture of the future.
Who can participate?
The competition is aimed at students from universities in Catalonia who have submitted their TFG during the 2024-2025 academic year. The works must belong to degrees related to biotechnology, biology, agricultural engineering and other disciplines linked to sustainability and agricultural innovation. The TFG submitted must focus on one of the following key topics:
Awards:
The awards are designed to reward academic excellence and encourage students’ professional development:
First Prize: 1000 €, diploma and a paid internship program at Biocontrol Technologies-.
Second Prize: 500 € and diploma.
Special mention: 300 € and diploma.
Participation process
Participants must present:
- A summary of the objectives, methodology, results and main conclusions of the TFG.
- The complete report of the work in PDF format.
- Official university certificate with the grade obtained, in PDF or JPG format.
- A letter of support from the academic tutor validating the quality of the work (optional).
All documentation must be sent in digital format through the official form on the website(https://biocontroltechnologies.com/catedra-ub/concurso_tfg_2025/formulario-de-inscripcion-concurso-tfg-catedra-bct-ub/), before November 28, 2025.
Evaluation and awarding of prizes
A multidisciplinary jury, composed of academics from the University of Barcelona and representatives of Biocontrol Technologies, will evaluate the works according to criteria of innovation, impact, methodological rigor and environmental relevance.
The winners will be announced at an official ceremony in 2026 (date to be determined), to be held at the facilities of the University of Barcelona. The awarded works will be disseminated through the official channels of Biocontrol Technologies and the UB Chair.
